Forty Acres in 2007 Pitch:
As "machinima" Forty Acres explores African American heritage and the effects of capitalism unified into a common theme of identity, double-consciousness, and transcendence in virtual space. Most of the film takes place in Second Life, a three-dimensional virtual world entirely created by its residents. My Second Life avatar is prominently featured as an angel who has the ability to transform and represent various aspects of my identity. Other avatars/actors will talk about their own ideas about the empty promise of "forty acres and a mule" and how artists and film makers are taking matters in their own hands using technology.
