Open Call: Pitch Reels
Hillary (4:05)
Bonita Makuch - Los Angeles,CA
The Pitch:
For the first time in history, a female may hold the most powerful office in the world. “Hillary” documents the passionate, and sometimes contradictory opinions that Americans have about the first viable female candidate for president. Where one person sees a fighter, another sees a power hungry politician. How did she gain the support from those who at one time despised her, while loosing the confidence of her most arduous supporters? Is sexism being given as much credence as racism? Do the mainstream political pundits reflect the views of the general populace? Can we separate Hillary from Bill? Are the Clintons merged in our minds?
“Hillary” seeks to answer these questions by interviewing the widest possible demographic of people- old, young, ethnically diverse, conservative and liberal. These voices will answer a set of questions about the former first lady to try and reveal what meanings lay beneath the emotion and excitement surrounding her candidacy.
A mosaic of voices and faces will be weaved together with images of the American landscape to form a meditation that will explore how Americans reflect upon this women who continues to overturn opinions we make about her, and the possibility of such a landmark event as a woman president.
