Open Call: Pitch Reels
Minority POV: Homeless (3:02)
Dyane Jean Francois Fils - Washington, D.C
I´d like to raise up the voices of a minority group, homeless Americans, who are sometimes spoken of this election season but not included in the dialogue. We also forget or choose to ignore the homeless on a daily basis. They are invisible, sometimes even if on our front steps. But, they are veterans, children, mothers, men with dreams, etc. They, too, are America. Therefore, when we talk about what to do to improve America, their voices must be included.
They are often referred to as the poor, the homeless, etc. I would like to give them a face, a voice.
I would like to produce a short that allows them to articulate their needs and their expectations of the next president as well views of present candidates. To cover Election 2008 from the homeless point of view.
I would like to bring the experience of living on the streets and the daily struggles of those citizens vividly to the screen by shadowing one of them for a short time. The story would be told in first person, through various (3) individuals.

a voice to be heard
I think it's a great idea to voice out ideas that almost never make it to the mainstream media. It is very important to cover everyone's perspective on such an important topic as the presidential elections.
This topic would make a great feature because the content is powerful and not very easy to find anywhere else.
minority POV
I like the idea. I think you could edit the first subject who is on the longest, and only include his most articulate statement - maybe about Bear Stern being bought out. I like the last subject and what he said.
I think it is powerful to hear homeless make intelligent comments on the election.
Perhaps you could somehow contrast where they live with mansions of the very wealthy.
