Open Call: Pitch Reels
READY OR NOT? (1:35)
Vanessa Bergonzoli, Kendra Stanchfield, Kelly Stoddard - Brooklyn, NY
The Pitch:
WHAT:
Ready or Not ? a documentary film, focuses on New Yorker's views about the two contenders for the Democratic Party Presidential Nomination. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama’s political candidacy challenges the root of a three century old democracy making the Office of the Presidency potentially available to someone other than a white male.
WHERE:
New York City fosters a proud history of leading activism in social causes, from abolitionism to the worker’s unions to women’s suffrage associations. The Big Apple today, is the most populous city in the United States, a fact that reveals its important function in politics, education, entertainment, media, fashion and the arts. Always a major point of entry for immigrants, about 170 languages are spoken here attesting to the many origins of the city dwellers. Population density is in itself an achievement in civics and the cultural diverse stage that results from this “melting pot” is truly unique.
HOW:
Based on a model by Pier Paolo Pasolini who traveled through out Italy in 1963, microphone in hand, asking Italians to speak about sex, the purpose of my documentary is to address New Yorkers of all ages and races, from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and class status with what appear to be simple questions. Is America ready for the first woman president or for the first African American head of state? I propose to find the answers, directly on the streets of New York City.

it's interesting to see what everyday people have to seay. i would really like to see more.
Great Work!
Very engaging introduction with fast cutting and reversed cymbal roll. I look forward to seeing the final film. Good luck!
Ready or Not
Good work! The title prepares us for the inevitable...change is "a-comin'" and are we ready for it?
Looking forward to the finished work and to hear the nitty gritty from New Yorkers.
successfully provocative
I find this piece, with it's opening and presentation of the two democratic candidates followed by a few sound-bytes representing the many feelings of US citizens to be an engaging invitation to research and follow the candidates further.
I have been following this
I have been following this election everyday...so am really looking forward to the full length of this docu. It will be interesting to really see what people do think of this unique process...now that is really coming from a NON-US citizen or resident...I guess that doubles the impoertance of this film.
Good Job!
Can't wait to check out the full length!
Kudos!

Ready or Not?
I thunk this job will explore the political challenge the USA sociaty is facing right now.
This is an imprtant debate in order to move forward in relation to get the new way of livng to people coming from different cultural settings.
Points of View
Very important to listen to what normal people from different backgrounds have to say.
Great Production Values but too promotional
Really nice production quality but it seems like too much of an advocacy piece.
I would, however, love to see a refreshing piece on "ism" in politics.
Good Luck.
Find an angle
I don't know, I guess I'm just already exhausted about the Clinton vs. Obama hair pulling. If it was a divided family or something that might be interesting. But isn't the primary going to be over by the time these pieces are published/broadcast? You need something a bit more evergreen.
