Your Vote Counts (2:11)
Keith Robinson
"Your Vote Counts" will be an extended PSA, but told in a narrative style with a beginning, middle and end. On the eve on election day 2008 an upwardly mobile African American couple discusses the current political climate. They have opposing political views as Tasha, a republican, argues her lost faith in Bush, but sees McCain as a viable president. Kenneth, a democrat expounds on his belief in change that Obama has promised. They adamantly debate the issues, but both agree that at the end of the day they recognize their right and their responsibility to vote. On election day both parents discuss with their daughters what the true meaning of voting means, despite their difference of opinions. They point out the sacrifice that African American and African people have made to gain that right to express themselves in a free election. This story will be shot on HDV, in Harlem, with exterior and interior scenes. I am still deciding whether to shoot in black and white or color. I have submitted as a sample, my trailer of my short, "October 16". This film was selected to air on BETJ BEST OF SHORTS which is slated to run this spring.

One of the better ways to look at voting and political beliefs.
Great idea as communities will have varying ideas especially political.
Too add, varying political beliefs/views usually start at the family level and expand out to the surrounding community.
Ultimately, it shows the importance of voting.
Your Vote Counts
Sounds to be a very interesting short film. The story line is intriguing. I would however like you to add something about Hillary.
This hits home!
This film is right on target for the country at this time of dealing with the devastating impact of war. It hits home for so many who have family members serving. I am impressed!
Great job!
I will be forwarding this to everyone i know!!
Your vote counts
In my opinion the title chosen is an excellent subject to bring to life in film. I feel the film could do a great service to the community at large if it captured the diversity that exist within the lives of people of color more than on any one political party. The piece can go on to bring out the different views within the households of people of color that are taken for granted by mainstream social activist, educators, politicians, religious leaders, the media and family/friends. In knowing this talented filmmaker for many years, I believe the message he would put forth for this film would be concise and clear on the subject matter.
'Your Vote Counts'
I'm from the UK and have recently got to know Keith Robinson and his work. He's a very talented film maker. It's terrbily important that no-one waste their vote and so I urge everyone to do so. We can make a difference but only if you take the time to get involved. I believe that America is ready for that change in every sense of the word.
Your Vote Counts
The Video Idea is great. Dialogue and Debate on Political Ideologies is Key to gaining a clearer Understanding of the Underlying Issues in Society today. Voting is a fundamental way that we express our Voice in a Free and Democratic Society. Its Important to take that Right, and its corresponding Responsibility, Seriously, especially given the people who died in the fight for that very right. The Film Producer is an awsome talent, in my humble opinion.
nice production style but limited
Great production style and I'm into pumping up black representation in media. I'm just not so excited about a promotional video for Dems and Repubs that doesn't take into account alternative voices, aka third parties.
Captures the Essence of the risk of further disempowerment
This captures the essence of why it is so important to vote-particularly this time round. The 'risk of further disempowerment' to the most oppressed in society-the poor, minorities-those who have taken one knock back after another is very real. This piece has been produced in such a way that atmospherically connects with the depths of the soul of the 'disempowered', those with dwindling oppurtunities, dwindling hope. Gets the viewer thinking. Could get more of those 'disempowered' realizing how this 'voting' stuff impacts them to be more empowered. Great subtle yet strong stuff!
My opinion on the subject
The subject matter on voting is very important to any black American. Voting has always been an issue for our people and some of us are still not completely aware of the ramification of not getting involved, being on top of the issues concerning us, or the need to vote. It is important that no matter what party you stand for that we need to understand how each canidate will be benefical to our people. I agree that there are households that have differences of opinions about which party to stand behind and that makes for great debate on the issues concerning our people.
A different view
Mixed political houses occur and yet those same mixed political views are erroneously segregated for African-Americans that they all fall into Democratic camp or the ones who fall into the republican party are "less" concerned with the the African American family and more inclined to think only in line with their political party's issues. So this pitch seems to be relevant discussion with the "answer" being that there is diversity within the African-American vote and the importance of that vote, regardless of affiliation, should not be overlooked...

I think my pitch is totally in line with the topic that was presented. And Orange PEAL Productions is the name of my company therefore the spelling is correct.
I think the contest is
I think the contest is intended for social documentaries, a la POV pieces. This entry is therefore pretty off point.
And you misspelled peel. It should be orange PEEL productions, not orange peal productions.
