Open Call: Pitch Reels
Harvesting, Youth (3:13)
Angelisa C, Nicholas P - San Francisco, CA
We would like to produce a short about the San Francisco Community Gardens Program and how this city-funded program enriches the community with knowledge of where food comes from and establishes a rural environment within the urban landscape. Our project is going to focus on how the youth of the city learn to appreciate the outdoors while informing themselves on the issues concerning food production. While business try to dumb down the general population into buying into their multi-billion dollar food production industry it takes the community to come together and provide alternatives to the mainstream. It takes youth who know what's good for their minds and their bodies to really get the most out of the gardening experience. We want to show how investing in the earth may be an ancient technology but the fruits of it's labor are definitely still worth picking. Considering the interesting and unique story we are pursuing we're choosing to shoot in original documentary style, straight talking head mixed with a lot of vibrant colorful shots of the gardens and their bounty. Our main focus is going to be on the youth and what they get out of being outside working with Mother Earth so naturally we will include a lot of words and sounds of the youth. Lastly this piece is one that will help document the ongoing trend of greening cities but more importantly greening minds. It will help show that even for city kids the desire to get out of the urban environment and really spread out roots manages to overtake youth and communities alike to make a place and name for gardens in urban area

Great idea
I like what you are trying to achieve. I've seen Angelisa's work when staying in holiday cottages. Good luck Nicholas - hope it works out.
COOL!!
I like Angelisa so I think this would be a great project!
To beautify this city also
To beautify this city also means less emissions, green means money too! Sounds like an interesting topic that wouldn't be covered in San Francisco
excellent topic
i would be so excited to see a short about this subject. i loved nick's last project...what a great pitch. interesting and good for the community.
Interesting and true.
The things that were said in the video were true. I am a teenager and sometimes I would take food for granted and don't think about the cost for things, things like that. Gardening is fun and to me, majority of people doon't appreciate the outdoors. If teens or young people grow their own food, they would really enjoy it and feel god about it. I know I would. I liked this video a lot.
I love your choice of topic
I love your choice of topic and I've seen Angelisa's work before and know that she'll create a thought provoking and well crafted piece (I believe in you too Nicholas!)! I hope to get to see your final video! Great pitch!
